Custom Post Type Archives version 1.3 is here

I’m happy to announce that plugin ‘Custom Post Type Archives’ has a new version – 1.3. I won’t go into big detail, and will just tell you what’s new.

New Customisations

Many people have been requesting this – ability to specify custom options for each enabled custom post type archive. Now it’s here. You will be able to specify two things for every enabled custom post type archive:

  • Title
  • Rewrite Slug

Now – where could this be helpful? It’s very helpful if you want your page title on ‘photo’ post type to say ‘My awesome, and very artistic photos’, but title on ‘note’ post type to say ‘Random notes of my awesome life’. Similar example for ‘Rewrite Slug’ option. Suppose that you have rewrite slug ‘note’ for ‘note’ custom post type, but you want to have you’re archive to be at URL ‘http://example.com/notes’. You can do that by specifying the ‘Rewrite Slug’ for ‘note’ post type to be ‘notes’. That’s it.

Previously you couldn’t do that (well – not at least from options page) – now you can.

If you don’t want to customise that much – don’t worry. Leave the fields blank and they won’t be used.

One pretty important thing to say – ‘Rewrite Slug’ will only be there if ‘Use Rewrite Slug’ option is enabled. If it isn’t then you won’t see this option under every enabled custom post type archive.

Contextual Menu

Not, really, a big thing, but there is now a contextual menu which can be seen if you click the ‘help’ tab at the top right corner in the options page. It will tell you the priority lists for different options and list all the variables you can use for every option. It’s just like a quick reference to glance at when needed.

That’s about it – thank you for your support and requests. As always – you are very welcome to comment about this plugin and make new feature requests.

Thank you!
